Flu Take Over

Flu Take Over

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that there is a flu epidemic raging in America this year that is worse than other years. Twenty-two states have reported high flu activity, and thousands of people have already been hospitalized.  The flu is a growing health problem in America, and something that should not be taken lightly.

The flu is also affecting us at WHBHS causing students and teachers to be absent. Even though many people got the flu shot this year it’s not working like it used to. Senior Emily Bak said that she got the flu shot and added that, “this year the shot only helps when you actually get the flu”, and so getting the shot doesn’t prevent the flu this year.

So the question is, “is it worth is to get the shot”? Bak said that she thinks, “it’s a good to get as a precaution.” Mrs. Flynn agreed with Bak and said, “You should get the shot to protect yourself.” Even if the shot helps or doesn’t help its not a bad thing to be extra safe by getting it.

The flu comes with all different symptoms. If you start to get a fever, the chills, body aches, headaches, sore throat or a runny nose then get to the doctor to get it checked out.

During the flu season make sure to keep washing your hands, use Purell, get good rest and stay away from people who have the flu or feel sick!
