Summer Day Trips

Summer Day Trips

Everyone around the world loves to take the day off once in a while and head somewhere beautiful for a day. In the Hamptons we have beautiful options. To take a day off and head to the beach, go get a nice lunch with friends or family or just simply walk around a gorgeous town.

Asking around WHB people’s favorite places are mainly to Southampton, Montauk, Greenport, and Sag Harbor. A day in Southampton can be filled with one of their most fun & magnificent beaches Coopers Beach. If it’s too hot for the beach there’s always other things you can do; you can head to the Southampton Historical Museum, you will be able to see historical things that everyone cares about. It may be small but is the perfect size for a small activity during the day. You can hit the streets of the town and just look around view the many adorable boutiques placed. A sophomore Sophia Traina said “Southampton is my favorite place to go because there is just so many things to do, I go into almost every boutique there because I happen to like everything in each one.”

Montauk is clearly mainly known for the admirable Montauk Point Lighthouse. On any given day that’s sunny you can head to the Hither Hill State Park and enjoy the open beach go fishing, get fries and have some family fun. With the day at Greenport, it’s a great day for a big playground for kids and adults. With the main attraction being 1840 Schoolhouse Museum its very cool to see how life in school was in the past so it’s a good idea to take a walk around. And almost everyone’s favorite place to go is the Antique Carousel. It always brings back great memories as a kid throwing the brass rings for young or old. Sophomore Kayleigh Walker says, “Ill always love Greenport because of the carousel.” Of course there’s also the Fireboat Fire Fighter. Which is an on water museum of the group of volunteers dedicated to preserving the former New York City Fire Dept. fireboat Fire Fighter.

Sag Harbor is always a good place to go because it has a home town feel.  There’s lots to do like go to the Bay Street Theater, to the Sag Harbor Whaling and Historical Museum, or to just go on an awesome boat tour. Rysheah Hunt said, “Sag Harbor is always a great place to go when you have the time to just take the day and drive to an awesome town and just admire a good view.”

Take a load off, go to a town where there’s plenty to do without feeling the everyday stress you do, visit a beautiful beach or boutique or even park. Small summer day trips are always good and you can never go wrong with them.
