Ben Osborne Slides into Herkimer College

On Tuesday November 22, 2016, many WHBHS seniors committed with sports scholarships to their respective colleges. One of those seniors is Ben Osborne, who committed to Herkimer College for baseball.

Herkimer College is a highly-regarded 2-year SUNY school in New York State. Ben decided to go there for baseball because “of the opportunity Herkimer offers. I’ll be seen by high-level scouts, and it’ll help set up to go to the University of Tennessee.”

If all goes well, Ben will go to the University of Tennessee after a year at Herkimer to help refine his baseball skills and build up his grades.

Osborne comes from a family with baseball in its past, as his father Chris Osborne was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 25th round of the 1989 MLB Draft. His brother also has baseball experience; he is currently attending Farmingdale State College on a baseball scholarship. Ben hopes to build off both his brother’s and father’s baseball careers by making his own path.

“I want to fulfill what my dad was able to accomplish, by making it to Draft Night. I want to fill his shoes but also go even further and make a serious case for a professional career in the Major Leagues.”
