“Mynor” Changes for the Soccer Team

WHB soccer boys are ecstatic about this year’s season so far, with more games to come. Mynor Martinez (Varsity) and Austin Walrath (Junior varsity) both had a lot to say about this season and the work the teams have put in so far.

Since Mynor is a senior this year a lot has changed for him this season. Martinez said, “Being a senior completely changes how I plays because I finally came to realize it’s the last year I’ll be playing with your teammates and it’ll be the last thing we will have in common.” Martinez also added he wants colleges to recognize how passionate he really is about soccer and he hopes to get recruited.

He also stated how his biggest goal for the team this year is to make playoffs since in previous years they had rough seasons but they hope this season to continue strong and make playoffs. Martinez plans on doing his best for the team and keeping as many goals out of the net as possible. While Walrath said how the goal for the Junior Varsity team is trying the beat Harborfeilds since they suffered two huge losses to them last season and one this season.

Walrath and Martinez both agree that the incoming freshmen are going to make the team stronger.  Walrath thinks the freshmen make the team better because he believes they’ve had better training. Martinez thinks they will make it better “since the Varsity team this year is mostly seniors we need them to step up their game to keep the soccer program strong.”

For the Junior Varsity Walrath said “for the team to improve this year we have to talk more on the field and be more mature during practices, we need to also be more mentally prepared for the games.” He is confident the team is going to do great this year and achieve their goals.

Even though both Martinez and Walrath are out right now for injuries they both know this season is going to be great for their teams even though they wish they could be out on the field playing with their teams. Best of luck in the games to come boys!
