Mrs. Probst.  You’ve probably seen her around or most likely have had her as your very own guidance counselor. She left Westhampton Beach High School for a different job but she came right back when the right fit job opened for her. I’ve got the inside scoop on Mrs. Probst’s new position as the Assistant Principal and it seems to me like she’s loving the position she has in Westhampton Beach High School.

She’s always seemed to have the interest and want in being the Assistant Principal of Westhampton Beach.  Probst states that “I have always loved Westhampton Beach High School and when the opportunity presented itself to return I did not hesitate one bit!” For some people this might have been a scary job to come into she explains that “I started on July 1st, so I was fortunate to have time this summer to transition. Since I worked here before, I had a good idea of what the role of Assistant Principal would entail.  So far it’s been what I expected.” Was it a good fit for her she says, “I hope so!  I think my background, as a school counselor and my experience working in this school are benefits for me in this role.” Everybody has a favorite and worse part about his or her year, so far and this is Mrs. Probst’s. “My favorite part of being an Assistant Principal is the people I get to work with.  I’m proud to be part of a great team with Mr. Herr and Mr. Bookamer and I’m fortunate to work with incredible faculty and staff.  It’s been great to see the students I knew previously and to meet new students.  You all make WHB a great place!”

When asked to share an interesting fact about herself Mrs. Probst said,”Before working in education I worked on Capitol Hill where I was a personal aide to a U.S. Senator.  I was in the background on CSPAN almost every day and I got a front row seat to some very real political action.  I’m a total politics junkie, but I like education far more than politics, so I left and never looked back.”  Mrs. Probst has a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Law, Economics and Political Science from American University in Washington, D.C., Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University, Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Columbia University, and a Master’s Degree in Education Leadership from Columbia University.

As you can see it looks like nothing but joy starting off the school year for Mrs. Probst and she seems to enjoy every bit of it. Mrs. Probst seems has many great ideas she can help bring to Westhampton Beach to make it a great environment for everybody. Good Luck Mrs. Probst, Westhampton Beach High School is happy and lucky to have you!
